Write, relax and refresh your creative spirit while experiencing life at the Mast Farm Inn, Valle Crucis, NC. Originally built in the 1880's, this farmhouse is on the National Register of Historic places and has been lovingly maintained and restored through two centuries. The present owners, two sisters, have carried on the tradition of sister innkeepers with a main house, collection of farm buildings turned into self-contained cottages and a gourmet, organic restaurant on the premises. This is perfect mountain retreat with a "green" philosophy to enjoy sensory and expressive writing workshops, time to write on your own, private consultations with a published author, and reading salons in the evening. Both the novice and experienced writer enjoy the chance to unwind and create. A short drive away is the Mast Farm General Store with a plethora of native crafts and home necessities reminiscent of 19th C. general stores across America. There are also many restaurants, antique stores, art galleries and hiking paths sprinkled throughout this Blue Ridge National Heritage area.

Workshops

Sensory Delights: A sensory-based writing workshop coordinated to the Blue Ridge experience and culture. Spontaneous writing methods develop insight and authenticity used for fiction, poetry, plays, and nonfiction.

Expressive Writing: An expressive writing workshop designed to free the inner spirit, release life story material and encourage imagination.

Facilitator: The Blue Ridge Mountain North Carolina Writing Retreat is facilitated by Ronni Miller, author and Founder and Director of Write It Out®, an expressive and motivational writing program for students of all ages that she began in 1992. Her work as a writer, playwright, editor, and educator led to her founding and developing Write It Out®, a motivational writing program for students of all ages. Miller lectures and teaches motivational and expressive writing in the United States and abroad. She is a charter institutional member of the National Association of Poetry Therapy (NAPT), and is the author of two books: Dance With The Elephants, Free Your Creativity And Write, and Where To Go With Your Lover. Her essays, short stories and poems have been published and her plays and performance pieces have been produced in schools and at theatrical readings. In her private practice she is a facilitator of expressive writing techniques as well as an editorial manuscript consultant. She encourages expression of feelings and thoughts through the pen and the paint brush. Miller divides her time between Sarasota, FL, Woodstock, NY and Italy.

Registration and Accommodations 

Registration and Payment: $650.00 per person includes workshop, private consultations and evening salons. Accommodation, transportation and meals are not included. Payment in full is due with registration by March 10, 2009. A cancellation refund is available less $100.00 before July 20, 2009.
