"Masks!" Creative Retreat Weekends

A unique opportunity to spend a weekend in Sarasota, Florida, a cultural jewel on the Gulf of Mexico. Relax while involved in expressive writing and painting exercises based on the theme of masks. This retreat focuses on the positive and negative sides of wearing a mask for protection, invention, or play: to hide who we are; invent who we are, and act out who we are. The expression of words and art are used to create a personal mask.

Setting and Schedule. The two-day weekend retreat is held in a comfortable private setting in Sarasota with views of a pond and nature. Activities on Saturday run from 10 AM to 5 PM, and on Sunday from 10 AM to 5 PM, with a Sunday evening salon from 6-7 PM. Lunches will be provided.

Facilitator: The Retreats are facilitated by Ronni Miller, author and Director of Write It Out®. Her work as a writer, playwright, editor, and educator led to her founding and developing Write It Out®, a motivational writing program for students of all ages. Miller lectures and teaches motivational and expressive writing in the United States and abroad. She is a charter institutional member of the National Association of Poetry Therapy (NAPT), and is the author of two books: Dance With The Elephants, Free Your Creativity And Write, and Where To Go With Your Lover. Her essays, short stories and poems have been published and her plays and performance pieces have been produced in schools and at theatrical readings. She encourages expression of feelings and thoughts through the pen and the paint brush. Miller divides her time between Sarasota, FL, Woodstock, NY and Italy.

Cost. Tuition is $504, including lunches and Sunday evening salon. Price of tuition does not include accommodations or travel expenses. We can suggest a range of nearby accommodations.

Space is limited. Early registration suggested. Arrangements to pay for individual morning or afternoon sessions is available.
